Vaporetto Pass:
The heart of Venetian public transport.
The Vaporetto Pass is more than just a ticket; it is your ticket to complete mobility in the lagoon city of Venice. As Venice is largely car-free, the vaporetti (the public water buses operated by ACTV, Azienda del Consorzio Trasporti Veneziano) are the main means of transport. The pass is specifically designed for tourists and visitors who want to make extensive use of the network.
Validity and fares.
The great advantage of the pass is its flexible validity periods, which offer considerable savings compared to expensive single tickets (usually over €9 per trip).
Passes are generally available for the following periods:
1 day (24 hours)
2 days (48 hours)
3 days (72 hours)
7 days (168 hours)
Validity begins exactly when the pass is first validated and runs until the minute at the end of the booked period.
What is included?
The Vaporetto Pass covers most ACTV water bus lines in Venice (Grand Canal, Giudecca Canal, the main islands) as well as lines to the popular lagoon islands (such as Murano, Burano and Torcello). As a rule, ACTV buses on the mainland (Mestre, Lido) are also included, which can be useful if you are staying outside of Venice.
Important:
Journeys to and from Marco Polo Airport (VCE) on the special Alilaguna boats or ACTV express lines (e.g. line 5) are NOT included in this standard vaporetto pass. A separate ticket or a combined pass is required for this.
Purchase and validation
The pass can be purchased at various locations:
Here, on our official ticket platform,
Or at ACTV counters at the main landing stages (e.g. Piazzale Roma, Ferrovia/Santa Lucia railway station, San Zaccaria).
Vending machines at larger stops.
Some tobacconists or authorised dealers (recognisable by the ACTV logo).
Online in advance via the official website Venezia Unica.
Validation:
This is crucial! Before each journey, the pass must be scanned at the validation machine (usually a small yellow or white box) at the pier or on the jetty. Hold the card against the sensor until a green light and a beep confirm successful validation. Without proper validation, the pass is considered invalid and you may face heavy fines if checked.
Recommendation for use:
The Vaporetto Pass is particularly recommended for:
Sightseeing hoppers:
Those who want to visit many of the lagoon islands (Murano, Burano, etc.).
Tired feet:
Those who want to return quickly to their accommodation after a long day on foot.
Strategic users:
Those who need to get from one end of the city to the other quickly and efficiently without having to navigate the narrow streets.
Use it strategically to avoid the crowds and experience the city from a unique perspective from the water.
